Description

Gov. Rick Perry vetoed more than two dozen bills passed during the regular session of the 83rd Texas Legislature. In response, Perry received a flurry of angry and congratulatory emails and letters from average Texans. In other instances, he was lobbied directly in emails and letters by powerful special interest groups and corporations to waive his veto pen and kill a specific piece of legislation. This database makes available all of the internal communication the governor's office received in the days before and after he issued his final veto proclamations for the session. The documents were turned over the San Antonio Express-News/Houston Chronicle Austin bureau under the Texas Public Information Act.
